Who i am

My name is Mahnoor Imran, and I am a sophomore at the University of Michigan. I am majoring in public policy, concentrating my studies in the carceral state. I am also minoring in history and writing. Writing is my most profound passion, and I am constantly using my voice to speak truth to power. In all of my endeavors, I feel eager to challenge institutional racism, economic oppression, and social injustice.

Notably, my work with the Prison Creative Arts Project, Parole Preparation Project, and Carceral State Project exemplifies my desire to confront and uprooting the harms of the contemporary criminal legal system. I write articles about policing and prisons for The Michigan Specter, the student publication of the Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter at the University of Michigan.

When I am not overstretching my bandwidth by adding more activities to my plate, you can find me reading, writing stories I rarely finish, getting angry at the world, dancing in my room, and crying over Attack on Titan
